The new Mercedes-AMG GLE63 Coupe may debut sooner than expected. While rumors suggested the GLE63 would appear at the 2015 New York auto show this April, Mercedes has just dropped a new teaser video confirming that it will show off the AMG version of its new fastback SUV at next week’s Detroit show.

Mercedes unveiled the 2016 GLE Coupe last month. The GLE63 Coupe will be the range-topper and will likely get the same 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 in the ML63 AMG, where it’s tuned to produce 518 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Its sole competitor, of course, will be the BMW X6 M that recently received a face-lift and power bump to 567 hp and 553 lb-ft. 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE63 AMG Video Teaser© Provided by MotorTrend 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE63 AMG Video Teaser

As previously reported, the GLE Coupe will usher in the automaker’s new AMG Sport Line with the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG Coupe, which is essentially a half-baked AMG model. Slotting below the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 Coupe, the GLE 450 AMG Coupe will feature a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 making 382 hp and 384 lb-ft and standard AMG-tuned all-wheel drive. It also gets the automaker’s new nine-speed automatic, though it’s not clear if the gearbox will also make it to the GLE 63.

With the GLE 450 AMG is slated to arrive in showrooms this summer, we expect the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 to be available before the end of 2015. Mercedes should reveal more details at next week’s show.
