The next-gen Kia Sorento isn't due for launch until next year, but that hasn't stopped the Korean automaker from giving us a sneak peek at the improvements being made to the crossover. A sketch of the Sorento's interior has hit the web, revealing a more modern and luxurious cabin.

Kia says the Sorento's interior will "raise the bar in luxury" thanks to a wrap-around dashboard, high quality soft-touch materials, and a range of advanced onboard technologies. We can also expect the latest installation of Kia's Human-machine interface and much larger infotainment screen than the one found inside the current SUV. The head-up display and all-around-view rear view camera found in the K900 could trickle down to the Sorento as available equipment, but it's still too early to know what exactly Kia has up its sleeves in terms of advanced onboard technologies.

As far as the Sorento's interior styling goes, the automaker says the brand's design team in Germany drew inspiration from Swiss watches. Taking that into account, the team designed a smoothly contoured cabin and incorporated lots of leather and stitching. That's all Kia is saying about the next-gen SUV, but we can speculate lots more changes are in order. We've complained about the Sorento's crowded third-row and minimal cargo space, so the next-gen Sorento could address those issues.

We've seen teaser sketches of the exterior, but it's unknown whether powertrain changes will be made to the next-gen Sorento. The current SUV is offered with four- and six-cylinder engines, both of which received updates for the 2014 model year. A direct-injection 2.4-liter engine is standard on the Sorento LX and EX, making 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Also available is a 3.3-liter V-6 that makes 290 hp and 252 lb-ft, but it's possible the next Sorento could go the route of the Hyundai Santa Fe and ditch the V-6 in favor of a turbo-four.

For now, take a look at what we'll see in the next-gen Sorento when it debuts later this month in Korea.
