Nissan's big news at next week's Frankfurt auto show will be a new crossover concept. Shown in a teaser photo, the new crossover is said to hint at a sporty direction for the company's crossover lineup.

With Nissan's prominent V-motion grille opening up front, fenders that rise up above the hood, triangular headlights nestled into the car's front corners, and a coupe-like roofline that falls away toward the rear doors, the Nissan crossover concept seems to preview a new version of the Juke. Nissan recently confirmed it will develop a second-generation Juke, and that the car will ride on the company's CMF-B modular chassis architecture. Styling-wise, this crossover builds on the striking look of today's Juke.

At the same time, Nissan wants to emphasize that this crossover concept has excitement in mind. "What if Nissan created a new way to feel driving excitement?" the company asks. Reports from Europe suggest that this crossover might instead preview a replacement for the Z sports car lineup that is instead based on a crossover platform. According to Autocar and Auto Express, this concept could preview a high-performance SUV that will replace today's 370Z by 2017.

Whatever this concept previews, look for full details when the car is revealed in Frankfurt next week.
