The Nissan Juke R started off as an experiment, with no plans to ever see production. The task for U.K.-based motorsports tuner RML was to shoehorn the drivetrain of a GT-R into a Juke. They succeeded, and after an incredibly positive reception from fans and wealthy customers, it was decided to put the ridiculous thing into very limited production. Now, Nissan is preparing to up the crazy factor with a Juke R Nismo, which is set to debut on June 25.

Nissan says the Juke R Nismo will use "the latest technology, styling, and running gear from Nismo products." If that's the case, the short-wheelbase CUV could pilfer its drivetrain from the GT-R Nismo, which produces 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. That would be a 55-hp increase over the standard Juke R, of which only a handful were built. The first iteration of the Juke R packed a 480-hp version of the GT-R's twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6, and was estimated by Nissan to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds. If the Juke R Nismo gets the GT-R Nismo's drivetrain, you can expect that time to drop significantly.

We'll find out exactly what Nissan has in store for the Juke R Nismo when the crossover is revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 25.
