Refreshing or Revolting: 2015 Porsche Cayenne

Now entering its third generation, the 2015 Porsche Cayenne gets a comprehensive makeover without losing much of its signature look. And with the new 2015 Porsche Macan in the fold, the automaker is able to push the luxury sports SUV a tad more upmarket. Are the updates enough to justify a slightly higher base price? Here is a look at the styling changes to the 2015 Porsche Cayenne.

Up front, the 2015 Cayenne gets a wider appearance thanks to a redesigned hood and fenders and a new front fascia featuring horizontal lines that now travel out toward the edges. The center air intake isn’t as wide as the previous model, but its new shape along with the new airblades on the outer air intakes gives the Cayenne a more aggressive look. Those airblades direct air into the intercoolers on turbocharged models. The line between the lower fascia and bumper is more defined, while the LED running lights are better integrated. Reshaped headlight housings feature standard HID headlights, while Turbo models get LED headlights.

Although profile changes are subtle, the creased front fenders and redesigned roof spoiler lend to an aggressive look. Around back, redesigned LED taillights and tailgate (with better integration of the license plate housing, liftgate handle, and taillights) give the 2015 Porsche Cayenne a more sophisticated look. All Cayenne models now get quad exhaust tips that are integrated into the lower rear bumper, while the low-mounted reflectors now sit just above the exhaust tips rather than to the side.

Inside, the 2015 Porsche Cayenne is said to get more comfortable seats including available ventilated rear seats. Also new is a multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles inspired by the steering wheel in the Porsche 918 Spyder. The infotainment system comes with even more connectivity features.

What do you think of the 2015 Porsche Cayenne ? Do you think the subtle design changes improve upon the previous model? Let us know in the comments below.

Last week, we evaluated the new 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT sports coupe against the outgoing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT supercar. Many commenters had positive things to say about the newtwo-seater:

Kvnceleste said: “Very refreshing. The entire car looks better than the SLS and the interior is phenomenal.” slvrkng1 agreed: “I love it. It evokes the past of the 300sl while still having a cutting edge modern look.” 2ZZ - GE also had positive remarks: “Refreshing, but the MB spot in my dream garage goes to the E63 wagon.”

Still, not everybody was impressed. Surfer Paul Surfer thought it “Looks like a cross Dodge Viper-Porsche, very generic cut and paste... sorry not impressed at all.” yevin09 didn't think it looked “special enough. The SLS was special to look at, special to get in to, special to drive... This looks like an SL coupe. Those headlights look like an afterthought. They should have gone more extreme. Like the Vision GT. Also that name is a cop out.”
