To celebrate the Hennessey Venom GT’s VBOX-verified top speed run of 270.49 mph at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center last month, Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) is building a limited run of three Venom GT World’s Fastest Edition (WFE) supercars.

“The Venom GT is America’s supercar and it broke 270 mph on the same runway where the Space Shuttle landed at the Kennedy Space Center,” said John Hennessey, company founder, in a release. “We wanted to offer a special paint scheme that would incorporate the colors of the American flag—the same flag we flew on the Space Shuttle runway. Thus, our special livery package includes a body in white with red and blue stripes.”

With a 1244-hp twin-turbo 7.0-liter V-8 engine mounted aft of the passenger compartment, the 2743-pound Venom GT has a power-to-weight ratio of 2.2 pounds per horsepower or 1.0 kilogram per horsepower. Although the Hennessey Venom GT doesn’t hold the official Guinness Book of World’s Record title for top speed, the American supercar does hold the organization’s record for quickest accelerating car from 0-186 mph (300 km/h) with a time of just 13.63 seconds.

All three Hennessey Venom GT WFE cars have been presold for $1.25 million apiece.
