Los Angeles: land of movie stars, year-round sunshine, and high-speed chases. Too often do Los Angelenos turn on their TVs to find coverage of someone running from the cops, but the LAPD's latest acquisition might help deter a few bad guys from evading arrest.

The LAPD is now in possession of a Lamborghini Gallardo, which it has kitted out in full police livery. The car, which was donated to the department by Nathalie and Travis Marg, was revealed on Twitter. The Gallardo features a black and white vinyl wrap, a roof-mounted light bar, and red and blue strobes in the headlights. Despite the Lambo's high-speed pursuit credentials, the LAPD says the mid-engine, V-10-powered exotic won't see service as a patrol car, and will instead be used at charitable events for the LAPD air support team. LAPD isn't the only police department with a Lambo in its fleet. The United Arab Emirates city of Dubai has it beat with a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Aston Martin One 77, and a Bugatti Veyron. Though the cars reportedly do see service, they're mostly used to flaunt the city's wealth by patrolling the tourist districts. MotorTrend Image© Provided by MotorTrend MotorTrend Image

If you're local to L.A., you can see the LAPD Lambo in person at the L.A. County Air Show on March 21-22. Otherwise you can admire the sleek police cruiser in the photos above.
