Shortly after confirmation that Mercedes’ naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 used in the outgoing C63 AMG is discontinued, a mildly camouflaged prototype of the next-generation 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sedan has been spotted playing in the snow.

While the standard 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has already been revealed, the prototype for the upcoming C63 AMG model has camo on the front clip, rear bumpers and lower section of the doors suggesting the high-performance tuning arm is hiding a unique front end, or is possibly still working on cooling for the new engine and aerodynamics.

Up front, camo covers the hood, fenders, and bumper fascia with the three large lower intakes and main grille blacked out. Out back, camo covers the lower portion of the rear bumper, including the new rear diffuser and quad exhaust tips.

A twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 will replace the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter engine. Although power figures haven’t been released, we expect the new turbocharged mill to match or beat the outgoing model’s 451 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. A performance package is expected to meet or exceed the C63 AMG 507 model’s 507 hp and 457 lb-ft. The new boosted 4.0-liter is also expected to make its way under the hood of the new AMG GT supercar that indirectly replaces the SLS AMG.

In a recent interview with AMG boss Tobias Moers, we were told to "wait for New York" for word on the new twin-turbo 4.0-liter. That could mean we'll see the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG at the auto show in the Big Apple next month.
