It's been a few months since the Ford GT debuted at the Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford engineers are taking the hypercar to the streets for a round of testing. We spotted the sexy beast in public recently, and it looks a bit different than the car we saw on the showroom floor in January.

Research

Not only does this development mule forego that beautiful blue paint job we saw in Detroit--it doesn't have any paint at all. And where's that rear bumper? We also see a number of ill-fitting body panels and improvised parts (headlights, taillights, and exhaust outlets), all of which will be swapped out before the car hits production.

The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. The GT also features an adjustable ride height, as the model we spotted recently looks even lower to the ground than what we saw in Detroit.

It's possible that we will see a few changes to the GT by the time it hits the market late next year. Either way, these spy shots make us even more curious on what to expect when the car finally arrives.
