Spied! Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Shows Off its Tailpipes

It's not the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe, and it's not the Cadillac ATS-V sedan, which means the only other thing it could be is a prototype for the upcoming Cadillac ATS-V Coupe. Spy photographers snapped a racy-looking two-door ATS testing out on traffic-congested public roads, and we can tell it's not a regular ATS coupe since it shows off special design elements.

Although it's heavily camouflaged, we can guess this prototype is a high-performance V because it wears larger wheels and quad exhaust tips, which are poking out from what looks to be a revised rear diffuser. The quad exhaust tips hint at something special underneath the hood, while up front, we can make out bigger air intakes than those found on the normal ATS. The grille also looks to have been revised with vertical slats, though that could also be part of the camouflaged look. Also hinting at a V-treatment are larger brake calipers that barely peek out from behind the black-painted wheels. We've reported before that the ATS-V will be powered by Cadillac’s twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 making 425 hp, and that it's slated to get a seven-speed manual transmission option. Cadillac is also reportedly planning an ATS-V+, which could get an even more powerful V-8 and arrive as soon as 2017. Either way, the ATS family appears to be filling out quite nicely. The 2015 Cadillac ATS coupe, which made its debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show, offers both the 272-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 and the 321-hp 3.6-liter V-6. While we do admire that, we can't wait to meet the ATS-V Coupe.
