Kia has been on a redesign spree lately, and it looks like we may have found the next model in line for a makeover. Motor Trend 's very own associate editor Scott Evans caught this Kia prototype driving along the 58 freeway, and we think it previews a refreshed Cadenza.

Research

Judging by the sedan's length, we figure it had to be a medium-sized model. Since the Optima already debuted at the New York auto show this year, there's a good chance that this car is a revised version of the near-premium, $35,000-plus Cadenza. The Cadenza debuted here for the 2014 model year, and could be on the docket for a refresh in the next year or so. MotorTrend Image© Provided by MotorTrend MotorTrend Image

This prototype features the same general shape as the current Cadenza, including the sculpted nose. But the taillights now appear much slimmer, and it looks like Kia has changed up the grille.

Perhaps the Cadenza would benefit from some change, considering its sales are falling quickly. Through July, Kia has sold 3,699 Cadenzas, down significantly from the 6,002 copies sold during the same period in 2014. These numbers make it Kia's lowest-selling model this year other than the luxury full-sizer K900.
