Spied: Jaguar C-X17 Prototype Hits the 'Ring Dressed as an Evoque

The Jaguar crossover is inching closer to production, though you might not know it given these spy shots of a test mule wearing Land Rover Evoque clothes on the Nürburgring. Despite the CUV's disguise, our spy shooter tells us the vehicle previews the production version of the C-X17 concept that was shown in Frankfurt last year.

Research

There's not much we can tell about the upcoming cat-badged crossover from these images, since the prototype is dressed up like a Range Rover Evoque. It's difficult to tell where the fake Land Rover cladding ends and the real Jag bodywork begins, so we'll have to wait for a less camouflaged prototype to appear before we can comment on how much of the concept's sleek lines transfer over to the production model. As we've said previously, that production model will ride on a new aluminum platform shared with the 3 Series-fighting XE sport sedan. The model will also likely share its Ingenium four-cylinder engine lineup, which will include both gasoline and diesel versions, with the XE. A supercharged V-6 sourced from the Jaguar F-Type was recently confirmed as an option for the Euro-market XE, so that engine could also find its way into the production C-X17. The Jaguar crossover is still more than a year away from hitting the market, so expect more info -- and likely more spy shots -- as we get closer to launch. Until then, enjoy the spy photos below.
