Almost a month after Lamborghini CEO confirmed the arrival of the Aventador Superveloce roadster, a prototype was caught testing near the automaker’s Italian factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Lamborghini didn’t make any effort to disguise the test car, which isn’t surprising since the coupe version has already been out a few months now. The prototype is sporting a dark metallic blue paint job and the Targa-style hardtop appears to be production-ready, aside from a few pieces of black tape. In addition to the large and lightweight wheels, the prototype features similar aerodynamic treatment as the coupe, including the aggressive rear diffuser. The prototype is missing the large, fixed rear-wing spoiler, so it’s unclear if that will also be the case for the production version.

As previously reported, the Aventador SV roadster will be powered by the same 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V-12 found in the coupe. Output is rated at 740 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque, while a seven-speed automatic will divvy power to all four wheels. The roadster is expected to match the coupe’s performance, despite its slight 50-pound increase in curb weight compared to the coupe.

That said, the roadster version will be hard to come by thanks to its limited production run of just 500 units, 100 fewer than the coupe’s allocation. Price hasn’t been announced, but it should cost more than the coupe’s MSRP of $493,095.
