We saw the 2017 Audi R8 debut at this year's Geneva motor show with a revamped look and updates under the hood. Now, we caught the new Audi R8 Spyder out testing on the streets and at the Nürburgring in full camouflage.

While we can't see much thanks to the heavy camo, it looks like Audi has all but left the front end alone, giving the majority of the attention to the rear. Extra air vents on the rear fascia just above the license plate and between the taillights have appeared, helping cool the engine on this prototype model. The rear vents themselves, just under the taillights, feature a different look than the coupe model, offering a more vertical design as opposed to a horizontal one.

In terms of power, we know the R8 coupe features a 5.2-liter V-10 engine for 540 hp, while the Plus model ups the ante to 610 ponies. It's expected that the drop-top will feature the same variants. Going from 0-62 mph in the V10 Plus coupe takes just 3.2 seconds, according to Audi. Meanwhile, the coupe should hit 124 mph in 9.9 seconds and offer a top speed of 205 mph. However, thanks to the additional weight of the convertible top, those times could get slower on the R8 Spyder.
