Earlier this year, we spotted a mule for the upcoming Porsche Cayman GT4 coupe testing at the Nürburgring and now a Porsche Boxster GT4 convertible prototype has been spotted parked in snowy Germany.

Like its Cayman counterpart, the Boxster GT4 prototype features the same aggressive front bumper and large intakes, which are also similar to those on the Porsche 911 GT3 model. Unlike the last Cayman mule we spotted, the Boxster GT4’s front fascia is covered in camouflage.

The Boxster GT4 prototype wears 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Continental tires measuring 235/40 up front and 265/40 in the rear. A set of large cross-drilled rotors front and back peek out from behind the 10-spoke wheels. Around back, the Boxster GT4 features a larger duck tail spoiler a la the 1973 Porsche 911 RS. The Cayman GT4 mule featured a large rear wing similar to the 911 GT3.

While powertrain details haven’t been revealed, the mid-engine GT4 models could be powered by turbocharged I-4 or flat-six -- both could feature hybrid assist. The Boxster GT4 could make between 370-400 hp. While the prototype features a manual transmission, we expect the automaker’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission to also be available.
