Steering Recall Affects More Than 200K 2008-2010 Hyundai Elantra Cars

The Problem: Hyundai states that the electronic control unit (ECU) located within the electronic power steering (EPS) system could fail. Specifically, the ECU may miscalculate the torque applied to the steering wheel. As a result, the system may revert to manual mode and cut off steering assistance, making it difficult for the driver to maneuver the steering wheel.

The Fix: Hyundai will inspect the EPS system and update the ECU free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: Hyundai is recalling 204,768 and estimates that around 3 percent of those vehicles have the defect. Included in the recall are model year 2008-2010 Elantra sedans produced from June 1, 2008 to April 30, 2010. Also affected are model year 2009-2010 Elantra Touring hatchbacks produced from November 1, 2008 to April 30, 2010.

The Problem: FCA US is recalling 2211 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT and Charger SRT vehicles "equipped with the 6.2-liter V-8 engines," meaning Hellcat models. The recall addresses a possible fuel leak. During an inspection, engineers discovered that fuel hose seals may have been improperly installed.

The Fix: FCA US will notify customers to arrange an appointment to inspect the fuel lines and replace if necessary.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: FCA US states that about 2012 of the recalled vehicles are located in the U.S., with 148 in Canada, 30 in Mexico, and 21 outside of the NAFTA region. 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT 392© Provided by MotorTrend 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT 392
