We just published the first instrumented tests of the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and EcoBoost models. How did our editors find the new pony cars? Just so-so, apparently. While the two Mustangs posted respectable performance numbers, with the GT improving over the outgoing model in nearly every test, overall impressions suggest the new Mustang leaves a bit to be desired. Now that you've read the reviews, how do you feel about the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and EcoBoost?

Research

The biggest letdown was something we'd known about for a long time already: the 2015 Ford Mustang gains weight compared to the S197 generation. That weight gain hurt the GT's acceleration numbers, as it only matched the last GT Performance Pack model to 60 mph (4.4 seconds) and was a tenth slower in the quarter-mile (12.8 seconds). A major contributor to the new Mustang's extra pounds is its new independent rear suspension, which proved its worth on the handling course. The 2015 GT completed our figure-eight in 24.7 seconds at an average of 0.84 g, which is faster than both the last-gen GT and Boss 302. Both the GT and EcoBoost achieved max lateral acceleration of 0.96 g on average, which isn't far off of the Boss 302's performance (0.98 g). 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Rear View And Sun Closer© Provided by MotorTrend 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Rear View And Sun Closer

The EcoBoost model was moderately fun, but the engine had some unusual quirks. According to our dyno tests, power dips right around 5700 rpm. That confirmed what our editors felt behind the wheel. The engine is well suited for driving in the city, but isn't as happy at higher rpms.

So, what are your thoughts on the 2015 Ford Mustang now that you've read what our editors had to say? Tell us in the comments below.
