The redesigned 2015 Subaru Legacy wasn’t available during our 2014-2015 Midsize Sedan Big Test, but since then we’ve driven the updated car with the 2.5-liter flat-four and 3.6-liter flat-six engines. More importantly, we’ve tested the base engine, which matches the powertrains from its competitors in our test. Now we want to know how you think the 2015 Legacy compares to other midsize sedans.

In testing, the 175-hp engine and CVT helped the 2015 Legacy reach 60 mph in 8.8 seconds. That time trails every car from our Big Test including the Chrysler 200 (8.6 seconds), Chevrolet Malibu (8.4), Kia Optima (8.4), Nissan Altima (7.9), Mazda6 (7.7), and Honda Accord (7.5). However, the Legacy comes with standard all-wheel-drive where the rest of the competitors were tested in their standard front-wheel drive forms. The Legacy’s 26/36 mpg city/highway EPA-rating is mid-pack compared to the segment. 2015 Subaru Legacy 25I Limited Rear Side View With Road Sign© Provided by MotorTrend 2015 Subaru Legacy 25I Limited Rear Side View With Road Sign

During our time with the 2015 Legacy, racer Randy Pobst used the midsize sedan “to dust off the Streets off the Willow before some sportier cars got on track.” After lapping the Legacy, Randy said "There's some WRX dirt in there somewhere. But this is much more luxurious. More like a WRX Town Car." The 2015 Legacy lapped the figure-eight in 27.6 seconds at 0.60 g average. That time beats all but the Mazda6 (27.6 seconds at 0.62 g) and Honda Accord (27.0 at 0.65).
