After Kia teased us by letting us drive the Euro-spec Sorento last month, the automaker has finally released details for the version that is coming to the U.S. Complete with a new engine, more refined interior, and new technologies, the 2016 Sorento goes on sale in the first quarter of 2015.

At the L.A. auto show this week, Kia confirmed that it will be offering three engine options for the new Sorento. A 185-hp 2.4-liter inline four cylinder and a 290-hp 3.3-liter V-6 carry over from the previous year, although the former engine now comes with less horsepower than it previously did. A new 2.0-liter inline four straddles the line between the two engines by producing 240 hp. Along with the new engines, Kia revised the car's suspension and steering for improved ride quality.

Now, Kia has also revealed what to expect for the interior, which will feature soft-touch materials on the instrument panel, center console, and door panels. Available features include heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather, and driver's seat thigh extension. Additionally, Kia has added 1.5 inches of space in between the second and third rows for easier access to the back seats, and overall cargo volume is up to 74 cubic feet.

New technologies on the Sorento include driving aids like vehicle stability management, forward collision warning, smart cruise control, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, and surround view monitor. For audiophiles, a new Clari-Fi music restoration technology keeps sound quality in check and removes unwanted audio glitches while listening to tunes in the Sorento. Four additional UVO services are also available, including Geo-fencing, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score.

As we reported earlier, the 2016 Kia Sorento will be available in five trim levels including L, LX, EX, SX, and SXL. Pricing will be announced closer to the model's U.S. arrival.
