Could the long-rumored, high-performance 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat make its debut at the Detroit auto show? That could be the case according to the Mopar-mad folks over at Allpar.

© Provided by MotorTrend Detroit would be the natural place for Dodge to launch its answer to the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and the outgoing Ford Shelby GT500, with both the Dodge Challenger and the related Dodge Charger due for an update this year. Rumored to be named the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the new Challenger packs a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 under the hood. Power output is estimated to be around 640 hp, while both a six-speed manual and possibly an eight-speed automatic will also both be available.

Based on past spy shots, visual updates to the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat could include a more aggressive front bumper, flared fender arches, and a new hood. Allpar reports the Hellcat will be close to the Z/28 in price -- in the $70,000-$80,000 range. Rumor has it that the Hellcat's new engine could possibly also appear in the updated 2015 Dodge Charger. The Chrysler 300, which is also due for an update this year, likely won't get the Hellcat engine.

While Dodge is understandably mum on its Detroit plans, the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is slated to make its debut at the show next week.
