Word on the street is that Audi will debut a new flagship concept at the 2014 Los Angeles auto show in November. Expected to slot above the full-size Audi A8 sedan, the Audi A9 four-door coupe concept will preview the automaker’s new design direction, Autocar reports.

The new concept is said to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB architecture that will also underpin the next-generation Audi A8 sedan. Audi's New chief designer Marc Lichte, who also designed the 2015 Volkswagen Golf and current-gen Passat, will style the concept.

According to Autocar ’s source, the concept will feature a highly technical look with a reinterpreted single-frame grille, laser headlights, and unique details throughout its aluminum body. Other features will include the automaker’s virtual cockpit with simplified MMI infotainment system first seen in the 2016 Audi TT, as well as new connectivity options that will also show up on the next Audi A8. The production Audi A9 four-door coupe is expected to arrive sometime in 2017.
