We would have loved to have been in the room where designers were sketching plans for the original Veloster. Now, if rumors are true, the oddly shaped hatch that first captured our attention back in 2012 is undergoing a significant face-lift.

Research

According to a report from The Korean Car Blog, the Veloster will receive a number of changes to its design and ride quality. The Veloster loses its nonfunctional hood garnish while its front bumper receives a new silver trim that is in line with Hyundai's new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. New HID headlamps and slightly wider 225/40R tires also make their way to the Veloster. Expect improved driving comfort and handling, partially thanks to its new Flex Steer system that allows drivers to adjust steering effort to their own personal preferences. 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R Spec Rear Three Quarter View In Motion© Provided by MotorTrend 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R Spec Rear Three Quarter View In Motion

The new Hyundai Veloster Turbo model will receive new orange interior trim and sporty bucket seats. But the real news is that it will reportedly feature a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to replace the old six-cogger. We originally saw this transmission paired with a Gamma 1.4-liter T-GDI engine on Hyundai's i30 CNG concept at this year's Paris auto show.

We can expect to see an updated Veloster early next year, perhaps at the 2015 Detroit auto show in January or the 2015 Chicago show in February.
