It wasn't long ago that rumors started to circulate that a lighter, more powerful Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was on the way, following in the footsteps of the Ferrarri 458 Speciale. Now, we think it's possible that we may finally see the F12 Speciale make its debut in Frankfurt later this year.

A photo of a suspected high-performance Ferrari F12 surfaced on Facebook earlier this week, and already the rumors are flying. The Ferrari fan page suggests this is a Speciale, which would go along with earlier reports suggesting we would see this model no later than March 2016. Either way, this photo shows some serious upgrades to the F12.

From the photo, we can see that Ferrari has shortened the side window and added slanted air vents to the rear, right above the back tires. The back end has been given some attention, including a revised bumper and exhaust. The flowing curves have been replaced by sharper, more angular character lines. While we can't see the front of the new model, it looks like Ferrari has also added another air vent just behind the front tire, right before the side emblem.

We previously reported that a new F12 Speciale model will make nearly 30 hp more than the standard Berlinetta model, which already delivers a healthy 731 hp from its naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V-12 engine. However, the new model is expected to shed nearly 440 pounds and may offer a quicker 0-60 mph time in the low three-second range or below.
