Last time we reported on the 2015 Roush Stage 3 Mustang, we estimated that its supercharger would up the ratings to as much as 674 hp. It turns out we were pretty close, as Roush has officially announced the Stage 3 Mustang, or RS3 for short, makes a mighty 670 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque.

Peak horsepower is achieved at the 6,800-rpm redline, while peak torque comes at 5,000 revs. That surge of power can be attributed to the tuner’s new 2.3-liter TVS supercharger, which has been slapped on top of a 5.0-liter Coyote V-8. While enthusiasts would be happy with just the power upgrade alone, Roush went ahead and added extra bits to the Mustang. Other Roush upgrades that come standard on the RS3 include a quad-tip exhaust system, a single-adjustable coilover suspension system, and a new R7 aerobody. Available features include an active exhaust system and a competition-tuned 3-way adjustable suspension system. Other cosmetic upgrades you can expect are the hood vents, side scoops aft of the door, and decklid spoiler. MotorTrend Image© Provided by MotorTrend MotorTrend Image

While the RS3 may not make as much as the 730-hp 2015 Saleen Black Label 302 Mustang, or the 707-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat, 670 ponies should be more than enough to make enthusiasts happy. Roush, however, stresses that it will be releasing its Phase 2 and Phase 3 calibration upgrades soon, which could turn the Mustang into a Hellcat killer since it says its supercharger kit is more than capable of making 800 horses.
