The new 2016 Kia Sorento crossover introduced at last month's Los Angeles auto show will cost $25,795, including an $895 destination charge, when it goes on sale in early 2015. Load up with options, and the entry price can rise to as much as $43,995 for a Limited model with all-wheel drive and a V-6 engine.

The 2016 Kia Sorento adopts new, cleaner styling, and is larger on the outside and more spacious inside than the outgoing version. New for the 2016 model year is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, in addition to a 2.4-liter inline-four and a 3.3-liter V-6. All of the engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel-drive is standard with all-wheel-drive an $1,800 option.

Pricing starts with the 2016 Kia Sorento L, which is available only with front-wheel drive and the base 185-hp 2.4-liter engine. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED running lights, heated mirrors, cruise control, satellite radio, and USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

The next step up is the 2016 Kia Sorento LX, which starts from $27,095 with the 2.4-liter engine or $29,195 with the 290-hp 3.3-liter V-6 engine. Compared to the L, it adds features like automatic headlights, silver-finish roof rails, Kia's UVO infotainment system, a backup camera, and two rapid-charge USB ports. Available option packages include the aforementioned third-row seats, which must be paired with the LX Convenience package that costs $1,000 on four-cylinder and $1,600 on V-6 models. It includes a leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an eight-way power driver's seat, and heated front seats.

Equipment includes 18-inch wheels, fog lights, acoustically insulated front windows, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, leather upholstery, a power driver's seat, and heated front seats.

The 2016 Kia Sorento SX is offered only with the V-6 engine, from $38,795. It builds on the EX with features like 19-inch wheels, body-color door side sills and fender moldings, LED taillights, low-profile roof rails, navigation, a 10-speaker Infinity sound system, push-button start, piano-black interior trim, a 14-way power driver's seat, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The final trim level is the 2016 Kia Sorento Limited, priced from $40,795 with the turbocharged engine or $42,195 with the V-6. The most highly equipped Sorento, it benefits from features like Nappa leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel. The $2,500 SXL Technology package adds lane-departure and forward-collision warnings, plus a 360-degree camera system and adaptive cruise control.
