Over the weekend in Davis, Calif., at an event hosted at the Honda Smart Home, the automaker announced that it has revised its lease options for current and new lessees of the all-electric Honda Fit EV. Now, eligible customers have the option of a two-year lease extension with a lower monthly payment of $199, while new lessees get the reduced prices and matching two year terms.

But along with the lower payment (previously $259), Honda has also extended the unlimited mileage, routine maintenance, and collision coverage for the two-year extension. "Most Fit EV drivers tell us they love their vehicles, and may have requested lease extensions and this extended lease program is intended to meet their needs," said Steve Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., in a statement. Those current lessees that are eligible for the new lease options will be contacted by Honda before the end of their current lease for the latest options. Honda Fit EV customers also have the opportunity to install solar power with SolarCity with no upfront cost, thanks to Honda's partnership with the company. This would enable customers to recharge their Fit EVs with clean and affordable solar power.

With an EPA-estimated 118 MPGe rating with an 82-mile driving range, the Honda Fit EV is one of the most efficient 5-passenger electric vehicles on the road today. Charging can take as little as three hours when connected to a 240-volt circuit, while its energy consumption rate is only 29 kWh per 100 miles. Center went on to say, "We're very confident in how the vehicles are performing, and look forward to offering new and existing customers a chance to experience everything the Fit EV has to offer."
