MT Confidential: 1LE-Derived Handling Package Coming to Chevrolet SS

The manual Chevrolet SS we’ve been waiting for has arrived, but Chevy engineers want to make it even more fun with an optional handling package.

The engineers even know the part numbers to use. Using the Camaro’s fantastic 1LE option as a template, they’d employ different tires and size them equally front and rear (standard SS uses a staggered setup) to increase neutrality. The package would also offer new dampers and a retuned suspension. Chevy engineers say it could be ready in as little as three to six months. What’s the problem? Convincing higher-ups it’s worth it.

In other GM news, the desperately needed replacement for Cadillac’s SRX crossover is right around the corner. We think you’ll see it at the next New York show and we expect it to adopt the new XT_ naming structure.

More Turbocharged Porsches?

What if every variant within a Porsche model line were turbocharged? The company has been asking itself that question for a while, and it appears to have taken the plunge with the new Macan. Given Porsche’s moves toward downsized, turbocharged engines, we think the company may be testing the waters for other all-turbo lineups in the future, namely the flagship 911.
