Spy photographers have spotted the next-gen Porsche Panamera once again, and this time, it isn't afraid of the camera.

New photos show the Panamera testing on public roads for the first time, and while we still see a little camo, the shape of the car is very clear. The new Panamera sheds its brash and bulbous appearance for a slightly more tailored look, complete with new headlights and taillights. Bolder character lines run through the length of the body, and the rear slopes downward in a less dramatic angle.

The next-gen Panamera will be based on Volkswagen Group's new MSB platform, which will accommodate both all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive versions of the sedan. This new architecture will also underpin the new Boxster/Cayman and 911. Since the new architecture will bring a new set of engines, expect fresh V-6 and V-8 engine options on the next Panamera.

Strangely, the Panamera just underwent a major redesign for the 2014 model year. The outgoing model received cosmetic upgrades to the hood, rounder LED headlights, and updated engines with more horsepower across the board.

The new Panamera, which most likely debuts in 2016, will likely spawn a Shooting Brake as previewed in the Sport Turismo concept. This may be followed by a two-door coupe that harkens back to the 928.
