"Wow, that's big." Those were my first words when I saw my new long-term 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe LT pull up. My past three long-termers have been SUVs. The other two leaned more toward the S, but this Tahoe is more inclined toward the U.

Now, I knew it was a bigger vehicle, as I had sampled a Tahoe LTZ during last year's SUOTY competition, but it really didn't sink in how much bigger it was until I had to park this in my parking space at home. It's definitely a tighter fit. With that extra size comes extra room inside, and there is plenty. The first thing my wife noticed was how comfortable the seats are, noting that they feel like sitting in a Barcalounger. And she's right. The seats have a good-sized seat bottom and seat back; you sit in these seats, not on them. The Tahoe is only a little more than 3 inches wider than my last long-term vehicle -- an Acura MDX -- but it feels like a lot more.

2015 Chevrolet Tahoe LT© Provided by MotorTrend 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe LT We didn't waste any time sending the Tahoe off to Fontana to run our standard instrumented numbers. The Tahoe made the run to 60 in 6.7 seconds, finished the quarter mile in 15.1 seconds at 92.0 mph, and stopped from 60 mph in 125 feet. The best lap on our figure eight was 27.9 seconds at 0.72 g (avg) with average lateral acceleration of 0.77 g. We have only tested two Tahoes over the past six years, mainly because the vehicle hadn't changed until last year, and these are by far the best numbers we have seen from a Tahoe.

There is one issue that has popped up that I have not yet had the opportunity to have checked out. The navigation currently has the Tahoe in the Santa Barbara area for some reason. That's odd because the navigation was working just fine when it first came in.

Given the size of this vehicle, I have no doubt that I will get numerous requests to borrow the Tahoe from our photo and video department, as well as those who just need something to haul a bunch of people or a whole lot of stuff.
