Ford Issues Recall, of 39,000 SUVs , Due to Instances of Fire. The auto company announced the recall in filings made on May 18. Owners of nearly 40,000 2021 Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs are instructed to take their vehicles to the dealer for inspection. The instructions state that the SUVs should be parked outside due to the risk of engine fire. 16 under-the-hood fires have reportedly occurred in 14 vehicles owned by rental companies. 12 of those fires reportedly occurred when the engines were off. They have been under investigation since March 24. Ford officials have stated that they do not know what is causing the fires.
