I Watched 29 Episodes of ‘RHONY’ in 3 Days and I Have Zero Regrets

I’ll be the first to admit that I am pro-reality television, especially the Real Housewives franchise. While I understand that majority of these programs (or at least, the ones that I watch) are by no means educational, I simply enjoy them as a mindless escape at the end of a long workday. So, when my friends and co-workers learned that I had never seen a single episode of the Real Housewives of New York (gasp!), they were surprised, to say the least.

I should start off by saying that I’ve been following the RHONJ and the RHOBH since their very first episodes. And considering I live and work in New York City, I really don’t have an excuse for not watching the Big Apple version of the franchise other than, I just never went out of my way to do so. So, this weekend when I sat on my couch and realized I had nothing to binge, I decided it was time to give these city gals a shot. And considering I live and work in New York City, I really don’t have an excuse for not watching the Big Apple version of the franchise other than, I just never went out of my way to do so. Three days later, I’m 29 episodes in and you can say I’m hooked.

To put things into perspective, that’s 22 hours (!) of content over the course of just 72 hours. Going in, I had zero expectations, but the one thing I learned up to this point is these women do not hold back—a few of them even give Teresa Guidice a run for her money.

As for the drama, I found season one was a little bit slow. But the end of season two and what I have seen of season three has made up for it. Fights. Emotions. Unplanned pregnancies. The only thing missing was table flipping and drug accusations. The Bethany-Jill feud is one of the worst I have seen from the housewives and gave me serious Kyle Richards-Lisa Vanderpump vibes. Therefore, there was nothing lacking on that front.

The one negative about the show (so far) is that I am missing a signature favorite character. I have yet to find my Lisa Rinna or Dolores Catania in this group of ladies (although, Sonja Morgan seems promising). However, I realize that I am only one-fourth of the way through the entire series and have yet to meet a handful of new cast-members.

To be dramatic, my RHONY experience over the last three days has been life-changing and the way things are going, I’ll probably make it to season 12 by the end of next week. What can I say? In the words of Sonja, “I have a taste for luxury, and luxury has a taste for me.”
