Adam Levine comes to Christina Aguilera's defense over weight jibes

6/13/2014

Adam Levine has come to the defense of his The Voice co-star Christina Aguilera after she was criticized about her new curvy appearance. Two superstar singers hit a rough patch when they began their journey as judges on the hit singing competition, but they have since put their bickering behind them, and now insists that their onscreen arguments were nothing more than playful banter. Levine tells People magazine, "The fights that everyone thought we were having were fictional. We never hated each other. We never had these secret battles that everyone thought we were having." And the Maroon 5 frontman admits he takes exception to those who bully Aguilera about her weight. He adds, "The one thing about the culture right now, celebrity culture particularly, is people feel like they can just say nasty things about other people whether it's Christina or whether it's me. She gets a lot and it p**ses me off. Of course I have her back and of course I defend her. "It's not cool. I've never liked it. I think it's horrible and I'll totally defend Christina when people say things like that because it's no one's business."
