Al Gore: Obama Might Have Gotten Too High Before Debate (Video)

Al Gore has quite the lofty explanation for President Barack Obama's lackluster performance at the presidential debate in Denver on Wednesday night.

Offering commentary on his Current TV, the former vice president suggested that Obama might have been done in by the Mile High City's altitude, which has been known to leave people a little light-headed.

"I'm going to say something controversial here," Gore offered, while surrounded by fellow commentators including Cenk Uygur. "Obama arrived in Denver at 2 p.m. today, just a few hours before the debate started. Romney did his debate prep in Denver. When you go to 5,000 feet, and you only have a few hours to adjust, I don't know ..."

Bear in mind, this is the same man who came up with the "iced tea defense" during a budding fundraising scandal in the 1990s, so flimsy excuses are something of a specialty of his.

Gore has not yet offered an explanation for what made him so lightheaded enough to believe that people would buy his altitude explanation on Obama's performance.

Watch Gore drop some science in the video.
