"Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan and "House" creator David Shore are teaming up at CBS.

The pair have landed a drama project, "Battle Creek," with the network, which has given a series production order for the 2014-15 season.

Gilligan and Shore are writing and executive producing the project about "two detectives with very different world views" who are teamed up, and which begs the question: "Is cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Mich., in the face of a complete lack of resources; or is the exact opposite true?"

The project, which Gilligan created, has long been germinating. CBS developed the script in 2002.

Shore will serve as showrunner on the series, while Gilligan may direct the project, pending his availability.

Mark Johnson is also executive producing the project, which comes from "Breaking Bad" producers Sony Pictures Television and CBS TV Studios.
