Britney Spears premieres new music video on The X Factor Britney Spears premieres new music video on The X Factor

Britney Spears premiered the music video of her new song Scream And Shout on The X Factor, while emerging teen artist Carly Rose Sonenclar stunned again on Wednesday's (28Nov12) episode. The theme for this week was number one songs, and it was more than fitting that the pop superstar premiered her new video, as Spears has had eight number one singles and six albums debut at number one throughout her stellar career. With the help of Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, the video was futuristic and simplistic, yet full of special effects, perfectly fitting for the song's electronic dance music vibe. And hoping to follow in the footsteps of Spears' success from a young age, 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar blew the judges away with her impeccable talent once again. After ranking first on the leaderboard after last week's (21Nov12) phenomenal rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Sonenclar and her mentor, Spears felt the need to keep the bar high and take on Adele's Grammy-winning song, Rolling in the Deep. Proving that she can even tackle a powerhouse vocal like Adele, Sonenclar wowed the panel, with Demi Lovato practically left speechless, and said, "I'm not even your mentor and I feel proud of you. I think that you're doing amazing. I got nothing, you're so good." Cowell joked, "I believe that outside of this show...you as a 13 year old can sell records. The only problem we have is that you're not human. So therefore, you may have to be disqualified from this competition because aliens are not allowed to enter." In addition, after weeks of mixed criticisms from the panel and rankings near the bottom of the leaderboard, single mom Paige Thomas finally had a night all four judges could root for. The 22 year old decided to tone down on the extra production surrounding her on stage and performed a more laid back version of Rick Astley's hit Never Gonna Give You Up. Cowell commended Thomas, and said, "This is the first time you have looked and sounded like a legitimate pop star. It was brave, it was a risk worth taking it definitely paid off. This actually sounded like you making a record." The top eight will be pared down to six, as the remaining acts face double elimination on Thursday (29Nov12).
