Disgraced American football star Chad Johnson has responded to his wife Evelyn Lozada's divorce petition by filing his own papers in Florida. Basketball Wives star Lozada filed for divorce from the wide receiver, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, on 14 August (12), just days after she he allegedly headbutted her doing an argument at their Miami home. Johnson refused to believe their six-week marriage was over, and had Lozada's face tattooed on his leg in a desperate bid to win back her love, but on Wednesday (12Sep12) the sportsman gave in and filed legal documents in a Florida court, claiming their union was "irretrievably broken," according to TMZ.com. The couple wed on 4 July (12). Johnson was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence last month (Aug12) after the altercation with his wife. He was subsequently dropped from his team, the Miami Dolphins, and the incident also cost him a lucrative contract with VH1 TV bosses, who decided to axe plans to air the pair's new reality show, Ev and Ocho. A lawyer for the star entered a not guilty plea to the domestic violence charge on Johnson's behalf on Thursday (13Sep12).
