American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez has promised to use her singing talent and celebrity to represent her Filipino heritage in the United States. The season 11 powerhouse has been busy with the Idol summer tour since the finale in May (12), and she and her fellow finalists recently wrapped up their tour with a sold out concert in front of thousands in Manila, Philippines. The half Filipino, half Mexican singer was proud to go to her mother's homeland, and assured her fans in the Philippines that she would do them proud. During a press conference for Bench clothing, for which she is now a brand ambassador, Sanchez promised to make a name for her fellow Filipinos in mainstream American music industry. She explained, "Us Filipinos love music. I’m glad that I can put us Filipinos on the map in the States... I’m really pushing to put my music on the radio so that... they don’t look at us like minorities, like we can’t make it on the radio... I’m really pushing for us to represent ourselves in the States." Sanchez is signed with Interscope Records and is set to release her debut album later this year (12).
