Martika cancels Australia and New Zealand tour

6/13/2014

Pop star Martika has cancelled her tour of Australia and New Zealand after experiencing problems with promoters Down Under. The Toy Soldiers hitmaker was due to launch her Mirror Ball world tour in Canberra, Australia this week (beg01Oct12), but she has now scrapped all of her scheduled dates in Australia and New Zealand. A statement posted on her website reads, "Martika... cancelled her Australian and New Zealand tour portion because her Australian based Tour Promoter efforts materially failed to meet its contractual obligations to Martika, her label and management company." The singer will now kick off her tour in North America, but she hopes to return to Australia next year (13). She has posted a personal note to fans on her Facebook.com page, apologising for the cancellation. Martika writes, "I can't even begin to tell you how upset and angry I am about what has happened. I am not going to let this get in the way of my tour and I will be touring the world including Australia (just not with this tour promoter). "I am so hurt by what has happened... I am beside myself with this situation and I will see you soon!!!!... To be so utterly disappointed like this is gutting to me, the label, management, publicity and everyone who has helped to make this a possibility. "I am now starting the tour in the United States and then heading overseas."
