Is Miley Cyrus heading back to the small screen?

The former Disney Channel star, who appeared on the season premiere of "Two and a Half Men," is in talks to star as Bonnie Parker in a Lifetime/History miniseries, "Bonnie & Clyde."

The project, the first of its kind to air on both A+E Networks, is being produced by "Smash" executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who are set up at Sony Pictures TV. Cyrus is said to be meeting with directors.

The move follows a growing push by A&E Networks President of Entertainment and Media Nancy Dubuc to bet big on big names and established titles in the scripted space. The formula proved fruitful last week when Kevin Costner took home an Emmy for his lead performance in May's highly rated History Channel miniseries "Hatfield & McCoys." Later this fall, femme-skewing Lifetime will roll out its Elizabeth Taylor telepic "Liz & Dick," starring another tabloid-friendly, former child star Lindsay Lohan.
