NBC Orders DC Comics-David Goyer's 'Constantine,' Greg Berlanti Drama Pilots

By Jethro Nededog

NBC has given pilot orders to two new dramas: the much-anticipated "Constantine" from DC Comics and "Mysteries of Laura."

"Constantine" will be executive produced by David Goyer ("Man of Steel," "Da Vinci's Demons") with executive producer and writer Daniel Cerone ("Dexter") for Warner Bros. Television.

One of DC Comics' most popular characters, John Constantine is a master of the occult. Based on the "Hellblazer" graphic novels, the series will follow Constantine who's struggling with his faith as he is haunted by the sins of his past, but is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.

The other project, "Mysteries of Laura," comes from executive producers Greg Berlanti, Melissa Berman, Aaron Kaplan and Jeff Rake, who's also writing the project.

Also from WBTV, procedural drama (which includes humor) follows a quirky female homicide detective who juggles high stakes crime as well as her ex-husband and a devilish set of twin boys. It's based on a Spanish format.

More to comeā€¦
