Former American Idol contestant Pia Toscano has split with Interscope Records, citing creative differences. The season 10 favorite was eliminated from the competition earlier than most fans expected, but Idol mentor and Interscope exec Jimmy Iovine took notice of her talent and signed her on to his label in 2011. A year later and Toscano has confirmed that she has parted ways with Iovine, pinning the split down to a "difference of opinion" over her debut album. She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "There were a lot of opinions going on, and there was also mine. The audience sees through everything, and if you are not true to who you are, they are going to know. I wanted an album that I could believe in and I could stand by... "When I did get my deal with Interscope, I was over the moon, but I never realized how difficult it would be. Coming from a show where you're singing other peoples' songs to becoming an artist... You have to work harder than ever." The 23 year old's album was initially scheduled for release last year (11). Pia adds, "It’s been a little while, yes, but, to be honest, I'm happy for this delay because I don't think I was ready for it when this all started happening... I’m finally getting to have a strong voice for what I want to create."
