Axed The Voice contestant Sylvia Yacoub insists celebrity mentor Christina Aguilera has given her the courage to keep fighting for a record deal. The 19-year-old powerhouse was voted off the singing competition on Tuesday (20Nov12), but thanks to her coach, Yacoub believes her elimination from the show is just the beginning of her career. She tells People magazine that her deep emotional connection to the Dirrty singer has inspired her. She explains, "We are so similar. But it's an emotional let-go. We connected... She just told me, 'You're amazing,' and that she didn't win her singing competition and neither did (guest mentor) Jennifer Hudson. I need to keep singing and I'm amazing and a fighter." And although Yacoub took a risk by singing Alicia Keys' current hit song Girl on Fire on Monday's (19Nov12) performance show, she insists that it was the right choice and a perfect tune to end the show on. She adds, "I took a risk singing a song that is still being promoted right now. But when I heard it, it just had such a good message and I just thought, as an artist, I wanted to be inspirational. I was really happy that I did that last performance because it was the first time that I didn’t let the voices in my head take over."
