**RTV** Howard Stern begged Kimmel to cancel second New York show

6/13/2014

America's Got Talent judge Howard Stern pleaded with chat show host Jimmy Kimmel to axe a planned taping of his late-night show from New York City on Tuesday (30Oct12) - because the fall-out from Monday's (29Oct12) storm made the trip to the Brooklyn studio treacherous. Kimmel canceled his first New York show on Monday as former Hurricane Sandy battered the Big Apple, but he refused to scrap a second show - despite guest Stern's requests. The shock jock said, "I've been up since four o'clock in the morning, I did my radio show and I was begging Jimmy to cancel the show. "I was trying to get here and all of the traffic lights are dead, the power is out. This is no joke. As I'm driving along, I'm trying to get, 'Why am I really trying to be here tonight?' "You cancelled last night and I was like, 'Thank God!'" Stern told Kimmel his family has been hit hard by the storm - his parents' power is out. He said, "My mother called me immediately (and said), 'The power is out, the power is out... We have a cellphone...' My mother thinks we're in Guam, like the power's gonna be out (indefinitely)."
