**RTV** Kardashians threatened with trademark lawsuit over new makeup brand

6/13/2014

Kim Kardashian and her sisters Khloe and Kourtney have been threatened with a lawsuit by the boss of a Los Angeles cosmetics firm, who alleges the reality stars stole his company's name. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians entrepreneurs are expanding their style business into makeup with the launch of their Khroma Beauty cosmetics line in November (12), but the move has upset the co-owner of Beverly Hills' Chroma Makeup, Michael Rey. He tells TMZ.com that he has hired a legal team and is prepared to sue the Kardashians if they don't change the name of their new company. He claims that his Chroma brand is used by a multitude of celebrity clients, and he fears that they will stop using his line of products if they associate his items with what Rey calls the Kardashians' "low-budget cosmetic products." But a source close to the reality TV stars say that they are positive they will win if he does take legal action, since Rey has not filed for any trademarks for his Chroma brand. On the Kardashian side, their team filed requests to trademark Kardashian Khroma and Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe, earlier this summer (12).
