Simon Cowell believes Khloe Kardashian wants to prove she's X Factor host material

6/17/2014

Khloe Kardashian signed up to co-host The X Factor to prove she's not just another reality TV star, according to Simon Cowell. Kardashian and fellow host Mario Lopez made their debuts on the singing competition's first live show of the second season on Wednesday (31Oct12), and she was an instant hit. While Lopez has had years of experience as the host of shows such as Extra and America's Best Dance Crew, it was Khloe's first time as a live emcee. But Cowell is impressed with what he's seen from the 28 year old so far. He states, "I think she wants to prove to anyone who doubted her that she's capable of doing the job. I don't know her well, but she really has got a fun personality. I think she gets what her role is - she's there to be a voice for the contestants and to have fun with it." And, as for her outspoken personality - and sometimes uncensored dialogue, the music mogul is not worried in the least. He explained, "On live TV, things do go wrong... I kind of like to see the unpredictable, and I quite like to see people under pressure just to see how they deal with it. You don't want robots, you want human beings. When you want to go off script, go off script. That's more fun than someone just reading on a teleprompter. "I like that the hosts are there to have opinions, and I think that's what was lacking last season. It's important that they are allowed to pitch in. If they disagree with the judges, they're entitled to say something!"
