Simon Cowell planning to propose to Lauren Silverman?

By Kat Giantis Slide 1 of 14

Is Simon Cowell going to put a final polish on his messy, stork-summoning affair with a married woman by asking her to be his wife? Insiders are being awfully chatty about the "X Factor" judge's apparent plans to pop the question to Lauren Silverman, who is expecting their son in February."Simon has an engagement ring, but is being secretive about the proposal," a mole tells People. "Simon is flying to the Caribbean for the Christmas holiday. Lauren will join him for parts of the holiday trip. Simon could be planning a special holiday proposal. It seems he will definitely propose." Us Weekly also believes he has a bauble in hand, with an insider enthusing, "Simon's mad about her. But I think he'll wait [to propose] until after she gives birth."Silverman recently finalized her divorce from New York businessman Andrew Silverman, although one of the reported conditions of the deal involves Cowell, 54, steering clear of their 7-year-old son for more than a year."Simon is being supportive of Lauren's divorce settlement with Andrew," explains the People spy. "Simon just wanted Lauren to get a quick divorce so they could start their new life together."If history is any indication, the sparkler that Cowell picked out will be big and expensive. In 2010, the never-married dream-crusher slipped a giant rock onto the finger of makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy, although their engagement eventually flatlined. Still, like most of Simon's exes, she remains a close friend, and the two even stepped out together for a red-carpet event on Tuesday in Los Angeles. While Cowell's reps aren't commenting on the betrothal rumblings, he did meet with Silverman's parents during a recent jaunt to Miami. Unfortunately, he once again failed to button his shirt in a way that measurably concealed his chest fur.Be sure to click on for more photos of Simon and Lauren, including their incredibly awkward lip-lock …
