The X Factor brings out Britney Spears' mean side The X Factor brings out Britney Spears' mean side

Music mogul Simon Cowell has warned viewers to watch out for Britney Spears' dark side on the revamped version of The X Factor. Cowell persuaded Spears to sign up as a judge on the hit talent show earlier this year (12), but he was forced to defend the pop princess amid reports she suffered a panic attack and walked off the set after just 20 minutes. And now he insists fans of the show will find it hard to believe his new hire struggled at all when she started dishing out advice to wannabes when her debut on the show airs on Wednesday (12Sep12) - because she'll quickly become the program's new Mrs. Nasty. He says, "I've seen the first show and I think it's sensational. I think the girls do a great job and the contestants are great. The show looks different than anything we've ever made before. "She is a fascinating person because you just don't know anything about her. She's very unpredictable. You never know what is going to happen. She has taken this very seriously and she's surprisingly quite mean." Meanwhile, Spears herself has shot down reports she almost quit the TV talent show on day one after media outlets went wild last week (ends06Sep12) when Cowell revealed his famous new judge walked out. The TV and music mogul now insists his remarks were taken out of context and the subsequent news stories about the pop superstar's near-departure have been overblown. He says, "We take a little five-minute break and then we come back, so every time that happened we were getting all these calls... I've done it for years and it's like, 'They've all walked off!' No, they've gone to the loo (restroom)!" And Spears admits everyone was reading too much into her every move on her first day as a TV talent show judge: "Me and (fellow new judge) Demi (Lovato) went and got up for lunch. That's it."
