No, we're not going to run out of French fries

There has been some concern that we're going to run out of French fries sometime in the next year. Colder-and-wetter-than-average weather and heavy frosts have damaged potato crops up North. U.S. potato output could drop 6%, falling to its lowest level since 2010. That, combined with an ever-increasing demand, has led to rumors of a French fry crisis. But those factors are just not enough to cause a shortage. Potatoes that may have been used for other purposes will simply end up being sliced in to French fries. However, the dip in production could cause price increases as supplies are stretched thin to cope with demand.
