Once homeless teen gives back through same program that helped him

Johnny Fluitt is bringing his love of gardening to this school as part of the Food Brings Hope program. Food Brings Hope provides underprivileged kids opportunities and resources to discover their full potential. Johnny isn’t just a volunteer, but also someone the program helped. He spent most of his youth homeless before moving into a home run by Food Brings Hope. Besides giving back, he goes to school full-time, has a part-time job and an internship at Daytona State College. Judi Winch, Food Brings Hope Executive Director: When I get a text from him, it just makes me sit up a little taller and feel a bit better and proud and happy because it’s from him. It’s from Johnny. Judi says Johnny’s biggest impact on the community is leading by example. Judi: Others can learn from him and look up to him as the role model. He is a community champion in my heart and in many others.
