- At 67, Christie Brinkley still looks as fit as she did at the height of her modeling career.
- She reflected on her time as a swimsuit model with new side-by-side photos on Instagram, including a serious throwback shot.
- Spin classes and a vegetarian diet help Brinkley put health and fitness first.
Half a century since starting her modeling career, Christie Brinkley is looking as fit as ever—and posting all the evidence on Instagram. The model and actress, 67, shared two photos side-by-side on her IG to celebrate her long career in front of the camera.
On the left is a shot of Brinkley from Sports Illustrated magazine, early in her modeling career. On the right is a more recent snap—and the similarities are striking.
"I worked with @siswim from the 1970’s till I’m ALMOST 70… and I appreciate and applaud their ever expanding embrace of women …showing the world that when a woman feels beautiful she IS BEAUTIFUL!" Christie captioned her post.
"When a women opens a magazine and sees someone like herself that may be all she needs to build her self esteem and boost her confidence!" she added. Likewise, Brinkley is no stranger to showing off her muscles on Instagram.
So just how does Brinkley stay so fit? For starters, she's a huge fan of hopping on an exercise bike. "I love spin instructors," she told Women's Health. "Sometimes you need a little drill sergeant to inspire you and keep you going."
Brinkley also tries to turn her daily activities into a workout whenever she can. "I noticed that the second you do any activity and you add your arms as though you’re dancing, it revs you up," she shared with The Cut.
"Whether it’s walking down the beach and moving your arms like you’re swimming, or picking up rocks and walking with them, you really start sweating and breathing heavily. The second you try to adjust those teeny changes, they make a huge difference," she added.
Food-wise, Brinkley has embraced a vegetarian diet since she was a teenager. “I took one look and said, ‘But I love animals. I do not want to take part in this barbaric system,’” she explained to WH. She also raised her kids on meatless meals.
Brinkley does eat some milk products, though—pizza is one of her favorites. “I have tried not to eat as many dairy products but hey, there’s mozzarella, and pizza, and insalata caprese, and life is short," she said. "That’s my weakness, what can I say?”
She also said that, while she's tried stricter dieting in the past, it never really worked for her. "I tried some pretty weird diets in the beginning...everything from juice fasting to eating one kind of food at a time, to eating a grapefruit first before everything," she told NY Mag, per Delish. "The only thing that really lasts is a well-balanced diet."
